IT Days 2026
The IT Days are a four-day German-language IT conference in Frankfurt am Main and have been the central platform for knowledge exchange, networking and shaping future IT strategies for over ten years now. The programme covers a wide range of IT topics such as software development & architecture, DevOps, AI, cloud, databases, quantum computing, IT security, agile methods and IT management.

„Making cloud sovereignty measurable: The quantification in practice test“
Digital sovereignty has long been an integral part of strategic risk management for businesses, including when selecting a cloud provider. In practice, however, there is no independent and effective basis for assessment: how can I determine a provider’s level of sovereignty without falling prey to ‘sovereign washing’?
We present a practical application of quantifying digital sovereignty within a cloud stack. The DISQU quantification serves as a standard for measuring digital dependencies. Based on the results, potential users of the cloud infrastructure gain a detailed insight into the existing dependency structures.
Methodology: We present our quantification method and the associated dashboard. This serves as a strategic cockpit that visualises lock-in risks and highlights options for action to ensure a resilient IT strategy.
Practical example: Together with Cloud&Heat, we’ll demonstrate how a robust cloud infrastructure can be set up in practice. As well as the specific setup, we’ll also discuss the challenges and opportunities involved.
Digital sovereignty in the Cloudstack – Which specific dimensions of sovereignty need to be analysed? Quantification in a practical test – Where do the practical hurdles lie, and which dependencies pose the greatest challenges in terms of diagnosis and resolution? Strategic implementation of sovereignty – How can a cloud provider such as Cloud&Heat use the results to offer users increasingly resilient, transparent and future-proof products and services?

„Open source from infrastructure to end users: A sovereign stack on SCS standards“
The Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) initiative is creating an open cloud ecosystem that is independent of individual cloud providers, with the aims of freedom of choice and digital sovereignty. A growing number of SCS-certified offerings is making the ability to switch between cloud providers a reality.
The next step is to work with software providers to extend the freedom of choice and autonomy from SCS right through to end users. After all, it is only at that point that the true value of the entire stack becomes apparent.
In our talk, we would like to present such a holistic open-source stack: building on Cloud&Heat’s SCS-certified OpenStack infrastructure, the Cloudogu EcoSystem – as an operating platform for tool stacks – extends control right through to end users. Together, we enable the use of modular, integrated tool stacks (such as project management and software development) on any infrastructure.
This makes it possible to switch between tool providers and infrastructure operators – as called for, for example, by the Deutschland-Stack – a reality.

„Automagical GitOps deployments of Proxmox Virtual Environments“
When operating PVE clusters, traditional approaches to „Day 1“ and „Day 2“ can be time-consuming and prone to human error.
This presentation focuses on how hypervisor infrastructure can be managed using a declarative approach. It demonstrates how Git can be used as a „single source of truth“ to manage Proxmox VE clusters and automate deployment using YAML and Ansible.

„Sustainable software needs energy-efficient data centres“
The foundation for energy-efficient IT applications lies in a sustainable supply infrastructure. This article examines the factors that influence the energy efficiency of IT infrastructures and the legal requirements arising from the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) for data centre operators in Germany. In doing so, we examine key energy efficiency indicators and provide an overview of the current status of the data collected under the EED.
In addition, we offer an in-depth look at server cooling methods and compare them in terms of energy efficiency and their potential for waste heat recovery. Given the sharp rise in energy demand from data centres, sustainable operation will only be possible through the consistent use of waste heat. Data centres offer previously untapped potential to drive the ‘heat transition’ and make a significant contribution to achieving Germany’s climate targets.
