Cloud&Heat
Forge
The Kubernetes distribution for bare-metal environments – powerful, reliable and flexible to operate.
The advantages are Kubernetes without a virtualisation layer. Maximum performance on bare metal. Offline and edge capabilities.
Advantages
The Cloud&Heat Forge Kubernetes distribution enables the efficient operation of Kubernetes environments directly on bare metal.
A production-ready platform for Kubernetes environments without a virtualisation layer, including stable releases, integrated tooling and a tried-and-tested architecture for production use.
Running directly on hardware enables lower latency, higher performance and optimal utilisation of existing resources without the overhead of virtualisation.
Cloud&Heat Forge is suitable for scenarios where a permanent cloud connection is not possible, e.g. edge computing, KRITIS environments or isolated infrastructures.
Cloud&Heat Forge is based on CNCF-certified open-source lifecycle management Tarook for Kubernetes clusters. Tarook enables standardised, automated and consistent management of the entire cluster lifecycle based on open technologies.
Flexible support from our Kubernetes team, which has many years’ experience in setting up and operating complex infrastructure environments.

FAQs
Answers and frequently asked questions
Cloud&Heat Compass deploys Kubernetes on an OpenStack-based infrastructure with virtualisation. This makes the solution particularly well-suited to flexible and cost-effective environments where virtual resources are to be utilised efficiently.
Cloud&Heat Forge It runs directly on bare metal and does not use a virtualisation layer. As a result, Forge offers maximum performance and low latency.
For businesses and organisations that wish to run Kubernetes directly on hardware, particularly where there are performance, security or offline requirements.
By avoiding virtualisation, this results in lower latency, greater efficiency and more control over the underlying hardware.
Yes. Cloud&Heat Forge and Cloud&Heat Compass are based on the open-source lifecycle management platform Tarook. As a result, both solutions share a common technological foundation. It is generally possible to switch between the platforms. In doing so, the target environment is set up from scratch and existing workloads are migrated to it.
Yes. Tarook As an open-source lifecycle management tool, it can be used free of charge and forms the basis for your own Kubernetes setups.
