Our Kubernetes advantages at a glance
Our managed Kubernetes service Compass Cloud fulfils the requirements of European data protection. Your data is processed and stored in GDPR-compliant ISO 27001-certified data centres in Germany.
We rely on an open source infrastructure. Our open and auditable technology stack guarantees full transparency and protects you from vendor lock-in. For the provision of our managed Kubernetes service Compass Cloud, we use Tarook, a certified Kubernetes distribution.
We take over the operation and maintenance of central components such as Loadbalancer-as-a-Service, Ingress Controller as well as monitoring and certificate management. Updates and upgrades are carried out regularly during the maintenance window. This allows you to concentrate fully on your application.
Through direct hot water cooling and integration into local heating circuits, we enable efficient operation and the utilisation of server waste heat - for a sustainable Kubernetes infrastructure.
Benefit from our many years of experience. From the initial enquiry through to ongoing operation, our support team is at your side. Thanks to our close links with the open source community and active involvement in relevant projects, we are a strong knowledge partner - and can also help you with special requirements, such as scaling your software in the open source environment. own data centre, to provide targeted support.
Our technologies enable the provision of test, staging and production clusters on both OpenStack clouds and bare-metal systems. In this way, we support the flexible operation of your containerised applications in different environments - particularly with a view to future scaling to your On-premises infrastructure or offline setups.

Answers and frequently asked questions
Kubernetes (K8s for short) is an open source container orchestration system. It enables the automated provision, scaling and management of container applications in a cluster environment. With managed Kubernetes services such as our Compass Cloud, a service provider takes care of installation, configuration and maintenance - so that users can concentrate on developing and deploying their applications.
Managed Kubernetes offers numerous advantages, as the provider takes over configuration and operation.
These include:
1. simple deployment: Quick set-up without additional effort for the user.
2. scalability: Adaptation of resources as required using automatic scaling functions.
3. reliability: High availability thanks to continuous monitoring by the provider.
4. safety: Additional protection mechanisms against threats.
5. expertise: Access to experienced specialists and proven operating processes.
Managed Kubernetes is suitable for companies of all sizes and industries as well as for public institutions that want to operate and manage containerised applications efficiently. Managed Kubernetes is particularly advantageous for the following requirements:
- Scalability & flexibility for distributed, microservice-based applications
- High availability
- Time savings through automated updates and maintenance
- Multi-cloud strategies
- Reproducibility through the support of appropriate tooling
- Separation of workloads through use of own namespaces
Docker is a containerisation platform and is therefore responsible for the containerisation of applications. Kubernetes, on the other hand, is an orchestration platform that automates the operation, scaling and management of such containers in a cluster.
Kubernetes consists of a large number of components that together enable the management of containerised applications. The central objects include pods, nodes, services, clusters and the API server.
Pods are the smallest deployment unit. They contain one or more containers that share resources. Nodes are the physical or virtual machines on which these pods are executed. Several nodes together form a cluster, which forms the basis for the operation and scaling of applications. Services are used to provide a group of pods as a stable network service.
The API server. is the central interface of Kubernetes. It processes all API requests, manages resources and coordinates communication between the various components of the cluster.
For control and monitoring controllers are used. These ensure that the desired state of the system is maintained. They recognise desired changes in the cluster and take appropriate measures to achieve the target state. In the event of hardware failures, a controller automatically ensures that the target state is restored as quickly as possible.
Operators make it possible to automate extensive applications and their lifecycle in Kubernetes. An operator uses the Kubernetes API and resources to implement specific application logic that goes beyond the standard functions of Kubernetes.
Introductory and counselling interviewYou inform us about your application and your requirements. We answer your questions.
Planning and concept: Together, we develop a holistic picture of your wishes and operational needs and select the appropriate Managed Kubernetes package and the associated support provisions.
Commissioning of the Kubernetes cluster: We will send you the key material and the configuration files and you will be set up for working successfully with your new Kubernetes cluster.
The price for the Compass Cloud Managed Kubernetes service varies depending on the Managed Kubernetes package you choose and the scope and SLAs (Service Level Agreement) agreed. We would be happy to arrange a free consultation with you to evaluate your individual requirements and provide you with a detailed quote.
