Can you confirm this?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No, I can't confirm that as a general rule. Many of our customers already consume services from the cloud or have a plan for their digital transformation. COVID-19 in particular has acted as a catalyst here and accelerated the projects.<\/p>\n<h3>Where do you see your customers' biggest fears, problems or obstacles when using cloud services?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In our experience, there are reservations and fears on many different levels:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Technical reservations, such as security, latency but also \"cloud readiness\" of existing applications and systems<\/li>\n<li>Fear of loss of control and dependence on cloud providers when using cloud services<\/li>\n<li>Variety and complexity of available services and providers<\/li>\n<li>False expectations towards the cloud<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, many of these points can be traced back to a lack of experience, capacities and know-how to draw benefits from the cloud or to develop corresponding concepts.<\/p>\n<h3>Do your customers selectively differentiate according to the characteristics of cloud-based services (e.g. security, data protection, regionality, sustainability) or are cloud services rejected or accepted globally?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, more and more companies are moving towards selective differentiation on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<h3>Time and again, headlines about scandals involving foreign technology companies, such as most recently the incomplete data protection in one of the world's most widely used office applications, are in the media. How important is the protection of data and knowledge to your clients?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Probably the most widespread prejudice against cloud computing is that of a lack of security. The fear of falling victim to a hacker attack and losing data and intellectual property is still very high. However, studies also show that companies tend to overestimate the security of their on-premises applications \/ their own data centres. The cloud is not worse or better per se.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is precisely where a partner plays an important role. In addition to the selection of a trustworthy and certified public cloud offering, a customised cloud strategy can be developed together, taking into account the necessary security concepts.<\/p>\n<h3>GAIA-X has the vision to create a European cloud infrastructure with defined framework conditions so that there are European, especially German alternatives to the offerings of foreign tech giants. Have you heard about this? If so, what do you think of the GAIA-X idea?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The development of a European alternative to the offerings of hyperscalers such as Amazon, Azure, Google and Alibaba, taking into account local regulations and the involvement of local providers in order to achieve \"digital sovereignty\" is basically to be welcomed. However, I see the danger that GAIA-X will degenerate into a paper tiger due to the large number of members with the most diverse interests.<\/p>\n<h3>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ki-demonstrator.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KIPS<\/a> project is the first to make the breakthrough from a vision to a demonstrator. Here, a cloud service is to be suggested to the end user based on criteria that are important to him. What criteria would be important to you?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Criteria could be, for example: location of data storage, availability (98.5 vs. 99.9), uptime (24\/7 or only 10\/5), specialisation in certain industries, availability of preconfigured solutions (AI, IoT, Analytics).<\/p>\n<h3>Will every corporate application run in the cloud in the future?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No, even though more and more workloads and applications will run in the public cloud, there are still use cases for the use of a private cloud. Accordingly, hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructures, as a combination of private and one or more public cloud offerings, will become reality in many companies.
