After more than 10 years of operation, Cloud&Heat Technologies is bidding farewell to two more of its micro data centers in Dresden (Wallotstra\u00dfe, Tannenstra\u00dfe). Founded in 2011 as a spin-off from TU Dresden, Cloud&Heat Technologies set out to implement an innovative concept for energy-efficient cloud infrastructures: directly liquid-cooled server racks were installed in secure cabinets within residential buildings, running parts of a distributed cloud while supplying the buildings with the servers' waste heat. While the approach was technologically convincing, the business model associated with this innovation ultimately proved unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

Despite the economically driven decommissioning of these locations, we look back on a decade in which these sites significantly contributed to expanding our knowledge and technological expertise in sustainable and efficient IT infrastructures, their operation, as well as innovative cooling technologies and the energy-efficient use of waste heat.<\/p>\n

At the turn of the year 2022\/23, Cloud&Heat initiated a strategic realignment. This culminated, at the latest, with the spin-off of WAIYS GmbH in the fall of 2023, in a focus on Managed Kubernetes<\/a> as well as On-Premise-Solutions<\/a>, into which our experience and expertise in the field of energy-efficient infrastructure have been incorporated. With these offerings, we provide our customers with customized, future-proof cloud solutions \u2013 secure, scalable, and sustainable.<\/p>\n

Our products and services, and ultimately our customers, benefit from the wealth of experience gained through operating and acquiring in-depth knowledge of energy-efficient data centers and their waste heat utilization\u2014expertise we have accumulated over the past decade with the sites we established.<\/p>\n
